It is estimated that roughly 250,000 patient referrals are sent or received each day via fax or eFax. While there may be technology out there for providers to send orders for equipment, most simply do not use it. Overall, only about 15% of all DME orders come through automated e-prescribing systems, while the majority are still via an old fashioned fax or eFax.
